International At-A-Distance VI: A Day in the Life

Just in from Dev Ray and Mikael Weichbrodt:

Dear Extended Team,

We are pleased to announce:

International At-A-Distance VI: A Day in the Life

Monday, April 8th – Sunday, April 28th, 2024

Organized by Dev Ray & Mikael Weichbrodt, along with Jacqueline Binder, Kim Cary, Tony Geballe, Fernando Kabusacki, Victor McSurely, Pia Quaet-Faslem and Erin Wigger.

We invite you to join us for this 21-day exploration of integrating our practice into our daily lives, asking ourselves the question: How does one keep working even when one has neither time nor energy – when it seems impossible to do?

This project springs from the need to continue the Diary work from IAAD V held last year, along with the wish to come together as a group during the The World Needs Us Right Now course, held April 15-21 in Argentina, to deepen our connection to that course and each other. We we will also be continuing our exploration of work with Themes, following on from Erin and Pia’s AT Themes presented during IAAD V.

And while doing so – holding a space open for the future to present itself.

*

The 21-day duration was chosen as a necessary solution for making this course possible. Because of this shorter format, the course materials and schedule will be somewhat lighter than on previous IAAD courses, and focused around three main areas:

– Diary Exercise; optional, with those opting in committing for the duration of the course. More information will be provided for those who are interested in taking this on.

– Weekly Themes, to be worked on as we engage with our normal daily lives, supported by a weekly Zoom meeting as well as written reports.

– Guitar Work in the form of one weekly Saturday Guided Practice on Zoom, calisthenics work through postings on the site, and possibly more.

IAAD VI is mainly intended for those not participating in the Argentina course, but participation in both is possible provided we honor the principle of “The attention remains within the course”, where precedence is given to our being on the in-person course in Argentina. More on this for anyone this may concern.

*

This course is open to anyone who has participated in at least an introduction to Guitar Craft, Guitar Circle, or any of the subsequently formed groups carrying this work forward, and has an established Morning Sitting practice. If you have not attended a formal introduction, or are not sure whether this course is for you, please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to offer guidance.

The minimum fee for participation is €50/$50, though we will gratefully welcome larger contributions from those who wish and are able to make them. A portion of this raised money will go directly to the course in Argentina.

To register, please submit an application letter to rayoflightinc@gmail.com detailing:

Who are you?
Why do you wish to participate?
What is your aim for this 21-day course?
Are you interested in participating in the Diary exercise?

Again, more information on the Diary Exercise will be provided as the course approaches, for those who declare their interest. You are then welcome to commit to the exercise, or decline, according to your wish and need.

Once your application is received and accepted, you will receive more information.

Any questions or concerns, please let us know!

Best wishes,

Dev and Mika, on behalf of the IAAD Team
