This, our third GC Course at Villa Sancelso, welcomes three categories of participants.
1. Beginners: those who have not previously taken part in a course.
2. Begin-Againers: those who have attended a course, recently or from any time in GC’s past 41 years, who wish to re-acquaint themselves and/or deepen their work with GC practice and exercises.
3. Experienced Crafties and Special Study Groups: working from their own initiative, individually and in groups, to address specific aims. For example: developing new repertoire, addressing the calisthenics of either / both hands, deepening their Practice of Doing Nothing.
It is likely that the town’s church, where The Orchestra Of Crafty Guitarists performed on both our previous two visits, will be available for those whose aim includes performance.

Guitar Craft House Rules
Honour necessity; honour sufficiency.
Nothing is compulsory, but some things are necessary.
No judgements are made: we accept you as you arrive.
There is no mistake, save one: the failure to learn from a mistake.
Freedom from like and dislike is our first major freedom.
Some people here you will like, others not.
Some people will irritate you.
No blame! You will also be irritating them.
Please act towards others with goodwill and with courtesy;
otherwise, be polite.
Honour the role; respect the person.
The function of a role is to allow the process to unfold.
We recognise the objective nature of the process involved and assume the (at least) competence of the person to functionally discharge that role.
We allow the person playing the role to proceed in that role. And more positively, we support the person in their role.
You are not asked to accept any direction that violates conscience.
Although we are asked to act from conscience, this assumes the virtue: to act from conscience is a considerable freedom.
You are not asked to passively accept any idea presented to you.
Rather, you are encouraged to test ideas you find surprising – to establish the veracity of those ideas, or not, for yourself.
And to adopt a position of healthy scepticism while participating in a spirit of critical goodwill.
Be on the course to the degree you are able to honourably bear.
For example, listen to music generated within the course.
Telephone and access the internet when necessary, or when useful.
Avoid listening to, and reading, any non-course material.
Recording and photography is often a distraction and an intrusion.
However, on the occasions where this may support our work, are permissible when subject to the criteria of time, place, person, and circumstance.
Is the act intentional, serving an honourable aim, consensual and supportive, ie non-intrusive?
Four qualities of photography to consider: necessary, useful, because we want to, automatic clicking.
Accept responsibility for your personal space; and that part of the public space you inhabit.
Please stay within the boundaries of the course for the duration of the course.
If you require something from outside, please ask the House Manager.
Drug use is incompatible with participation in the Guitar Circle.
Although nothing is compulsory, this is necessary.
If the course Director considers that any person’s continuing participation is detrimental to either that person, or the course as a whole, the Director may ask that person to leave with a pro-rata refund.
If you decide to stay, you are asked to stay for the duration.
